Produce specifications for small building projects

Small projects vary enormously in their requirements, so we offer several solutions to match these requirements and the individual preferences of building designers.

If you have worked with an NBS specification system before, and welcome the structure imposed with the Common Arrangement of Work Sections (CAWS) format, NBS Building Minor Works is probably a good choice for you. It imposes a rigour that many appreciate, and offers a scaled – down version of NBS clauses to produce a concise document. With NBS Building, you can create “office standard” specifications which can be easily updated for use on multiple projects.

If your work involves refurbishment and alterations, and you need a flexible specification system that produces schedules of work, NBS Scheduler will probably be the solution. It offers templates but allows you to build a schedule of works in any structure, to suit your project, and it also produces a reference specification automatically.

If you have a one-off domestic scale project like a single house extension, you may prefer to use the new NBS Domestic Specification, available from RIBA Bookshops. No software is involved – this is a paper based system, and you don’t need to be “a professional” to use it.
