Z

Zero carbon home

A house with zero net emissions of Carbon dioxide from all energy use within the home; the definition encompasses all energy use (including energy for cooking, TVs, computers and other appliances). It means that over a year there are no net carbon emissions resulting from the operation of the dwelling. This could be achieved either through steps taken at the individual dwelling level or through site wide strategies.

Zone control (in buildings)

The control of conditions, such as temperature, humidity, or air flow within a portion or zone of an air conditioned building, by means of manual or automatic control devices that are applicable only to that zone.
