British Standards Institution (BSI)

BSI, the world's leading national standards body, celebrated its centenary in 2001. BSI is the owner of the Kitemark logo, internationally recognised as the ultimate symbol of quality and safety. BSI's contributions to the development of international standards have brought safer products to consumers around the world. In all BSI produces some 1,800 new or updated standards every year. BSI's portfolio includes world-class expertise in product testing, CE marking, global trade and commodity inspection BSI is a pioneer in the development and international implementation of management systems, including the ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 suite of standards. BSI has strong links to the building and construction industry. There are over 4,000 standards and other documents relating to construction and over 1,000 Kitemark licences - more than in any other industry. The Construction Standards Manual gives details of all standards and related documents covering construction.
