NBS Educator

NBS Educator is provided by NBS, for use by construction industry students, lecturers and professionals who need to understand contract documentation, such as specifications and schedules of work. Architects, surveyors, engineers, contractors and clients should find plenty in this series of one-hour lectures to help them in their work.

The importance of learning about contract documentation

NBS has recognized the importance of teaching specification writing and other skills to students of architecture, surveying, and construction trades. This site takes students through the theory of producing contract documentation and recommends best practice. It also provides teaching resources for lecturers, in the form of down-loadable presentations, which can be adapted for use in the relevant course.

Lack of coverage in formal courses

The lack of coverage in producing contract documentation in formal courses has led to great differences in the skill level of those in industry. Because of this, we also feel the site can benefit professionals. Companies can use the downloadable files to teach staff within their offices, for instance architects practices can hold seminars on specification, and individuals can use these courses to improve their skills.
